Hello! Today our schedule began early at 8:00 a.m. We started the day off at Rachamongkol Market. Many traditional foods and sweets are sold there, so we could taste authentic Thai food at a very low price. Some of us had fried crickets and other edible insects.
During our free time at the market, many of us tried riding an elephant. It was such a fun experience! The market also had a stage for children in towns to showcase their talents. We watched children perform Gun-Tuem, local music performances, and cover dances. Unexpectedly, we, PRENGO, were also asked to give a short performance, so we danced to the Thai version of Koisuru Fortune Cookie. Other people seem to have enjoyed our show and can’t help but dance along with the song.
After that, we dropped by Surin Rajabhat University. We met with Thai university students and their professors. They showed us around their art exhibition. We then moved to the university’s cafeteria to get some food and refreshing drinks to be ready for the next activity.
At noon, we went to Chok Nuah to conduct an activity called "Class of Initiative," which was continuously conducted online via Zoom when we were in Japan.
Activities included rock-paper-scissors, self-introductions, learning five easier Japanese adjectives: amazing, delicious, cute, beautiful, and handsome, learning Japanese Hiragana letters from あ to そ, radio calisthenics, and playing Karuta.
Following those, we spent quality time interacting with children by playing soccer, swinging, jumping rope, and drawing with them.
We could converse with children in Thai and Japanese and had a very fulfilling time.
Tomorrow, we'll be working as departments. The Education Department will visit an elementary school, while the Market Development Department will meet the mayor of Lamduan and begin product development activities at Niwet. Please stay tuned for our next post!
