Today, each department was divided into different divisions for another day of activities.
The Market Development Department conducted activities related to herb dyeing. In the morning, members held a workshop on herb dyeing with the aim of deepening their understanding of the activity. The participants tried to tie the cloth in a trial-and-error manner to achieve the design that each member had devised in Japan. In the afternoon, we were given the opportunity to make handmade owl key chains, which are sold locally by local collaborator Thipbamrung Sanya. These key chains are candidates for deodorant bags, which we are considering for possible market development in terms of hygiene. Afterward, we received feedback on the proposed herb dyeing project that we had recently proposed, and learning about Thipbamrung Sanya's intentions gave us an opportunity to think about our future activities.
The Exchange Department worked with local partners to create decorations to be used at the Bilateral Market. We were divided into two groups to make ball lanterns and bamboo lanterns for the market. For the ball lanterns, thinly cut bamboos were bent little by little to make circles, which were then stacked on top of each other.
For the bamboo lanterns, many holes are made in the bamboo to create patterns such as fireworks and letters. Yesterday we made a draft of the pattern, so today we used a drill to drill holes in the patterned areas. The holes were then roasted over a fire to make the pattern stand out more.
Preparations for the Bilateral Market are progressing steadily. Tomorrow we will visit a kindergarten and continue preparations for the Bilateral Market.
The Education Department visited Wat Thaksin Waree Elementary School as it did yesterday. First, we visited the 4th and 5th grade classrooms to conduct an English lesson called English Station, which is also offered online in Japan. We taught mainly self-introductory sentences and how to make sentences using "can". In the 6th grade classroom, the children were given a career education session in which they were asked to understand their own strengths and to think about what goals they can set for themselves in their daily lives in order to make the most of those strengths and reach their ideal future selves. It was a good opportunity for the children to understand their own strengths by presenting their own strengths and those of their friends. After the class, we also took a tour of the school for reference for future activities. The children were able to improve on the points they reflected on yesterday's activities and were able to conduct activities of even higher quality. Tomorrow, we will visit Wat Thaksin Waree Elementary School again to conduct another class.
