Hello again! Today, just like yesterday, we were divided into the Education, Market Development, and Exchange departments, with each department engaging in its own set of activities. The Education Department spent the morning at the hotel, revising and confirming the objectives and content for the afternoon's interview activities. In the afternoon, we visited the Wat Taksin Waree School and conducted interviews. We had enlightening discussions with the teachers about the current state of education at the school and the challenges they face. With this knowledge, we considered future actions and plans. We also had the opportunity to interview parents, providing insights into children's education from their perspective.
Next, the Market Development Department toured three villages known for their silk production. We learned about the unique silk-making techniques and features of each village. Our first stop was the Pechanwa region where we greeted the villagers and observed the silk weaving and dyeing processes firsthand. This invaluable experience of understanding local industries provides insight into potential collaborative and support initiatives. After lunch at a restaurant in Ramduan district, we headed to Prasert Boonlert's silkworm farm in the Kokkor region. Here, we discovered the intricate process of transforming silkworm cocoons into silk. Lastly, in the Choketai village, we spoke with Ratchanok Chula, an entrepreneur in the silk industry, who shed light on challenges faced during the sales process.
The Exchange Department spent the day at Siram Prachasa School, participating in cultural exchange activities and Japanese language classes. In the morning, we introduced middle school students to origami strap-making and calligraphy. In the origami session, we made crane and butterfly straps. For the calligraphy, students were encouraged to convert their names into either Katakana or Kanji and then practice writing them. It was a fun and enriching experience, fostering a deeper connection between us and the local students. After lunch, we participated in a Japanese language class for high school students as teaching assistants. Post-lunch, we learned and prepared the traditional dish, Khao Tom mat, guided by the students. Wrapping up the day, we returned to the hotel for a debriefing meeting.
Tomorrow, we will continue with our departmental activities in the morning and set up food and cultural experience booths in the Rabo Chia market in the afternoon. Stay tuned for our next update!
