Our day began with a visit to the Fresh Market Mueang Surin, where various offerings, from delicious local foods to an array of clothing, captivated us. This was a chance not only to indulge in the local cuisine but also to experience the vibrant atmosphere of a local market. Additionally, the Exchange Department members went shopping for the necessary items for the bilateral market, which will be held on the 25th.
Following our enriching market visit and breakfast, we proceeded to Suan Niwet Kaset Sin for the opening ceremony. The warm reception from Niwet and Ms. Sanya set the stage for an enlightening discussion on the planned activities, including toy-making for children and the “Class of Initiative” workshop. Ms. Sanya delved deep into the philosophy behind these activities, explaining how they guide children through crafting musical instruments from wood; they’ve prepared themselves and encouraged them to conceive and execute their projects. This detailed exposition not only outlined the activities but also the purpose behind them, aiming to improve children’s lives significantly.
Post-lunch, we took a brief respite before embarking on the afternoon’s main event—making toys for the children. Split into two primary groups, we constructed seesaws and assisted with wood grinding, with the finished toys destined for the children’s playground. This hands-on activity was not just about creating playthings but about contributing to a space where children can enjoy and learn.
The day concluded with a visit to a night market, where we enjoyed dinner, reflecting on the day’s experiences and the impact of our activities.
Looking forward to tomorrow, we are excited to conduct the “Class of Initiative” workshop and exchange activities like sports with the children. Stay tuned for more updates from our journey!
