Today, we did some sightseeing and did a workshop in an elephant village in Surin province.
The first thing we did 🐘was to pray in the elephant village. In the prayer 🙏 we each made a wish and offered a flower to the statue of the god. Next, we actually touched the elephants. We went under the elephants' jaws and touched their ivory. We were overwhelmed by the size of the elephants. We also learned about how elephants live. We were also told about the elephant's food 🌱. The elephants had harder skin all over their bodies and softer skin on the tip of their noses🐽 than we expected. We were able to touch and photograph many of them.
It was an experience that I could not have had in Japan. It was a precious memory for me because I could not come close to elephants in Japan. I learned about the way elephants are in the local area and how they are cherished there. 💖I was also able to learn more about Surin Prefecture, where we are working.
