Day 9 of Summer Expedition 2023

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

Hello! Today, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the current situation in Surin Province, where PRENGO is providing support, we embarked on a tour of Surin's attractions. We began by visiting the Elephant Village, had lunch, then engaged in making "poop paper", and finally visited the Silk Village.

At the Elephant Village, we watched a show performed by the elephants. The show featured various acts, including elephant dances, soccer games, basketball, and many more captivating performances. After the show, members of our team took turns riding the elephants and even experienced the unique sensation of being stepped on by an elephant's foot.

Following our lunch, we headed off by van to make "poop paper". This paper is crafted by mashing and washing elephant dung, then blending it with dye, straining the mixture, and letting it dry. We participated in each step of this process and wrote messages on our completed poop paper about our visit to the Elephant Village.

Next, we visited the Silk Village, where we learned about the process of making silk. We not only understood the production methods but also gained insight into the target market and unique characteristics of the products.

Through our tour of Surin Province, we deepened our understanding of the areas we support. Tomorrow, we'll split into different departments for our activities. Stay tuned for our next update!
